Summer Holiday 2020

After a very busy time with on-line technical support and setting up live streams from the concert-halls, we are going to enjoy our well deserved holiday break. Like for everybody, the last four months were bizarre and unheard of. It was sad to experience the musical limitations but it was also inspiring to see the new possibilities!Friday July 17th we will close the EWP-doors and they will be open again around the end of August. We will use this time…

KvBz streaming ready

This week we started with the setup of the video/audio-streaming set in the KvBz. With the remote controlled camera’s, the mixer, the computers and the ATEM we can host a streaming event directly to Facebook, Youtube or other platform. In the near future we all will benefit from this setup. We can support on-line events and bring the KvBz into your homes. Of-course we know nothing beats being in the theatre, but in these strange times it is a real…

EWP adjustments

Last week our colleagues created ‘one-way routes’ in the building so we can use our building and corridors the most efficient way in this new ‘Corona-era’. Today we also added a plastic screen to our EWP ‘sound-bar’, so we can start our regular lending services if needed. It looks strange, but when it is effective, we will deal with it! We even think of applying small plastic glass pieces in between the workspaces on the EWP workbench, so it may…

Ready for recording

A few rooms within the building will be furnished with recording equipment, so that students can make a recording without assistance. We will provide a manual and we are available for questions via our website or Microsoft Teams. Today we installed equipment in Studio1 ready to be used. Some important remarks: you have to bring your own SD card for storage of the recording. If you do not have one, please inform us beforehand – we can arrange one for…

Phase #2 of building lock-down

On day #46 of the Corona building lock-down, our director Henk vd Meulen and his crisis-team came up with the next step in slowly opening our KC building again for individual practise. For exact details we refer to the content of his e-mail and the protocols that were attached. What does this new phase #2 mean for you and for us? We will begin our more regular lending services again starting on Monday, May 11th. We have to prepare the…

More gear available during lockdown

In the last weeks we received more and more e-mails with request how to improve the audio quality with on-line lessons. To be able to support the requests we had to invest and expand the amount of USB-audio interfaces and we had to ‘hunt’ for available keyboards in our building. Because the “whole world” is looking for better soluttions to improve the audio and video quality, it was actually quiet hard to get the items that we wanted. What did…

Playing with Jamulus

During this Covid-19 crisis we get more and more questions how musicians can work with Jamulus and what they ‘need’ or ‘have to do’ in order to use it. First of all a few tips:You need a computer, laptop or desktop. The computer should be connected with a CAT5 cable to the router or modem. A connection with a cable is more stable and can handle more data – so the up- and download speed is faster, which improves the…

Jamulus Server Setup (Mac)

In our search for better audio quality recent weeks, we found the application Jamulus as one of the possible solutions to work on-line and combine it with music making. This application connects multiple musicians with each-other by means of a server. All you see in your screen is a volume knob (fader) to adjust the audio mix. The more musicians, the more faders. After some tweaking with volumes and settings and getting used to hear delay (inevitable), you will have…

Network-Based Collaborative Music Making

Our colleagues in Oslo created a very informative page with a nice explanation how to use the network (internet) for music making. Please take the time to check this one out. Corona closed EWP

As the rest of the world, also the Royal Conservatoire will close its doors till at least April 7th. So it is not possible any more to borrow equipment – we are very sorry. We have to find alternative ways to work with audio, video or electronics. Aslo with your “electronics questions” we will be there to help you. We will create a new page referring to eLearning. Learning on-line, there are a lot of tools making this very well…
